Seeking mechanics to fill immediate openings at our maintenance garage in Gaylord, Michigan.  Experience working on heavy construction equipment and trucks necessary, including hydraulics, diesel engines and electrical systems. The successful candidates will be capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task under pressure and maintain attention to detail. Valid CDL with favorable driving record. Subject to drug screening and random testing. Position offers competitive wages and benefits.

Shop Helper

Seeking hard working applicants willing to work in fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Position is full-time through construction season, including some weekends. Duties include building and grounds maintenance, yard work, washing equipment, cleaning shop and worksites, mechanic’s assistant, etc. Position is entry-level and initial pay will start at $11.00/hour. GPS/Survey Technician
M&M Excavating is searching for a GPS and Survey Technician with a strong work ethic who can perform quality control by checking plans through GPS and total station technology as it applies to grading and utility installation operations. This position has strong potential for future growth within the company.

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required (Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to add, subtract & divide using whole numbers, common fractions & decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs

Job Duties / Requirements:

  • Perform basic construction layout and quality control checks
  • Read and interpret plans/blueprints
  • Field engineer solutions to site design errors
  • Assist project manager with tracking costs
  • Perform ongoing survey equipment maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor
  • Be safety conscious in all aspects of work

Site Pipe & Grading Foreman/Superintendent

Seeking candidates with the ability to provide complete supervision and responsibility for the job site field operations, including daily production, costs, safety, organization, labor & equipment scheduling & management, and subcontractor management in cooperation with Project Management staff.  Successful candidates must have a strong background in the following areas: Sanitary Sewer, Water Main, Storm Sewer, Box Culvert Construction, Mass Earthwork, Road Construction and Grade.  Strong management skills required to ensure project success, including time constraints to meet construction deadlines.

  • Minimum Five (5) years experience as Jobsite Superintendent/Foreman performing similar work.
  • Daily On-Site management of construction project, which may require travel.
  • Strong Computer, Communication & Organizational Skills – strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to Determine, Schedule, Direct and Manage multiple work crews and subcontractors simultaneously.
  • Extensive Knowledge of Plans & Specifications; including MDOT, Federal, State and local industry-related regulations.
  • Exceptional safety record with strong understanding of MIOSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Proficiency with jobsite tools including Lasers, Lines, Grades.  (GPS experience a plus)
  • Proven track record of success.
